Men’s Tennis Takes Two, Defeats Washington & Jefferson (Pa.) and Penn State Behrend

ERIE, Pa. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team won a pair of non-conference matches against Washington and Jefferson (Pa.) College and Penn State Behrend University.

BW (2-0) opened the day by defeating Washington and Jefferson (0-1) by a final score of 6-1 inside the Janet Swanson Tennis Center.   The Yellow Jackets closed out the doubleheader by shutting out Penn State Behrend (0-1) by a final score of 7-0 at the Westwood Racquet Club.

Against Washington & Jefferson
  • Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and sophomore Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W. Va.) won at first doubles by a score of 6-0
  • Senior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) and freshman Carson Craig (Hartville/Lake) won at second doubles by score of 6-2
  • Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) and sophomore All-OAC Vinny Cannata (Aurora) won at third doubles by a score of 6-0
  • Craig won at first singles by identical scores of 6-1
  • Horvath won at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
  • Cannata won at third singles by identical scores of 6-1
  • Harders fell at fourth singles by scores of 6-3 and 7-6 and 7-3 in the tie breaker.
  • Fenton won at fifth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Weingart won at sixth singles by scores of 6-3 and 6-0
Against Penn State Behrend
  • Horvath and Fenton fell at first doubles by a score of 6-3
  • Harders and Craig won at second doubles by score of 6-0
  • Weingart and Cannata won at third doubles by a score of 6-2
  • Horvath won at first singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-1
  • Craig won at second singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0
  • Cannata won at third singles by of 6-1 and 6-0
  • Harders won at fourth singles by scores of 6-2 and 6-0
  • Weingart won at fifth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-2
  • Fenton won at sixth singles by identical scores of 6-1
BW is back in action on Saturday, September 20 when they host a non-conference match against Ohio Wesleyan University on the Pop Collins Tennis Courts at 10 a.m.
