MEADVILLE, Pa. — The Baldwin Wallace men's tennis team kicked off their season this weekend at the Allegheny Invitational with the Yellow Jackets earning four victories across singles and doubles competition.
In singles play, sophomore Caleb Goff picked up a straight-set victory for the Yellow Jackets, defeating Stefan Gerin of Juniata, 6-1 and 6-2. Nathan Meier also earned a singles win, defeating Juniata's Romain Moradpour, 7-5 and 6-2.
Vinny Cannata split his two singles matches on the day falling to Tiffin's Juan Castro 6-2 and 6-2 before bouncing back with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Allegheny's Siddarth Ramineni.
In doubles action, Cannata and Sam Tyler Fenton teamed up to earn a 7-6 (7-5) victory over Tiffin's Juan Castro and Tom Van Nooten. Goff and Sevie Kretchmar also picked up a win, defeating Washington & Jefferson's Jonah Jasek and Srivatsa Bellamkonda, 6-2.
The Yellow Jackets also saw Andrej Devic, Fenton and Kretchmar compete in competitive singles matches, while Dalessandro and Parker Campbell and Devic and Meier were also featured in doubles competition.
Baldwin Wallace will continue its season on Saturday, September 19th at home with dual matches against Geneva at 10:00 a.m. and Mount Vernone Zazarene at 5:00 p.m.
