STEUBENVILLE, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened the spring portion of its schedule as it shutout Franciscan University in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 on the Belleview Tennis Courts
BW (3-1) won two of three doubles matches and all six singles matches. Franciscan (1-5) won one doubles match.
Doubles
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and senior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) fell at first doubles by a score of 6-2
- Sophomore All-OAC Vinny Cannata (Aurora) and sophomore Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W.Va.) won at second doubles by a score of 6-2
- Senior All-OAC and Academic All-OAC Jacob Weingart (Tiffin/Columbian) and freshman Sevie Kretchmar (Vermillion) won at third doubles by a score of 6-0
Singles
- Horvath won at first singles by scores of 7-5
- Cannata won at second singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
- Fenton won at third singles by scores of 6-1, 5-7 and 1-0 (13-11)
- Harders won at fourth singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
- Weingart won at fifth singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
- Kretchmar won at six singles by identical scores of 6-1
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, March 8 when they travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina to open their annual spring break trip with a non-conference match against Buena Vista (Iowa) University at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort at 2 p.m.
