WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior men's wrestling 141-pounder
Keegan McMahon (Ashburn, Va./Paul VI Catholic) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Wrestler of the Week for the first time in his career.
McMahon, who becomes the seventh BW men's wrestler to achieve the honor this season, brings home his first weekly honor after posting a record of 5-0 last week to help guide the No. 24 nationally ranked Yellow Jackets to 31-15 victory over crosstown rival John Carroll University last Friday and to a second place finish at the 39th John Summa Invitational last Saturday.
He won the 141-pound title at the Summa Invitational with his undefeated record.
McMahon opened the Summa Invitational with back-to-back pins 1:50 and 3:44 over Michael Valerin of Case Western Reserve University and Jemil Pace of Ohio Wesleyan University, respectively. He then posted a 12-6 decision over Shay Sinitiere of St. John Fisher (N.Y.) University.
McMahon advanced to championship match with a pinfall victory in 3:48 over Cole Rose of Case Western Reserve. He won the title with a 5-2 decision over Hunter Keane of Case Western Reserve.
This season,
McMahon has a record of 16-3 with seven pins, two technical falls and two major decisions.
For his career,
McMahon has a record of 57-33 with 19 pins, 11 technical falls and eight major decisions.
BW is back in action on Thursday, February 12 when it hosts a top-25 showdown and OAC match with championship implications in the Ursprung Gymnasium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 7 p.m.
