WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore men's tennis student-athletes
Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W. Va.) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
Fenton earns his first weekly recognition after winning both his singles and doubles matches in BW's 7-0 spring season opening victory over Franciscan University last Saturday.
He teamed up with sophomore All-OAC
Vinny Cannata (Aurora) to win their match at second doubles by a score of 6-2, which secured the doubles point for the Yellow Jackets.
Fenton then secured the seventh and final point for BW as he won his match at third singles by scores of 6-2, 5-7 and 1-0 (13-11).
This season,
Fenton has a singles record of 7-3, including a 4-0 mark in dual matches. He has a 3-6 record in doubles play.
For his career,
Fenton has a singles record of 10-4 and a 16-12 mark in doubles action.
Off the court, he is an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Scholar Athlete.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Sunday, March 8 when they travel to Hilton Head, South Carolina to open their annual spring break trip with a non-conference match against Buena Vista (Iowa) University at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort at 2 p.m.
