HILTON HEAD, S.C. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's tennis team opened its annual spring break trip by shutting Buena Vista (Iowa) University in a non-conference match by a final score of 7-0 at the Hilton Head Beach and Tennis Resort
BW (4-1), who has now posted back-to-back shutout victories to open the spring season, swept all three doubles matches and all six singles matches over Buena Vista (1-4).
Doubles
- Senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference and Academic All-OAC Will Horvath (Oregon/Clay) and senior Academic All-OAC Henry Harders (Ottawa Hills) won at first doubles by a score of 7-6 (7-0)
- Sophomore All-OAC Vinny Cannata (Aurora) and sophomore Tyler Fenton (Williamstown, W.Va.), who is this week's OAC Player of the Week, won at second doubles by a score of 6-0
- Freshman Caleb Goff (Bowling Green) and freshman Sevie Kretchmar (Vermillion) won at third doubles by a score of 6-2
Singles
- Horvath won at first singles by scores of 6-1 and 6-0
- Cannata won at second identical singles by scores of 6-1
- Fenton won at third singles by scores of 6-0 and 6-1
- Harders won at fourth singles by identical scores of 6-0
- Kretchmar won at fifth singles by identical scores of 6-0
- Goff won at six singles by scores of 7-6 (7-4), 1-6 and 1-0 (10-8)
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Monday, March 9 when they continue their trip to Hilton Head with a non-conference match against Mount St. Mary (N.Y.) College on the Hilton Head Middle School Tennis Courts at 11 a.m.
