BEREA, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team, led by Head Coach
Joe Eby, earned second place out of 18 teams at the two-day 56
th Sparky Adams Invitational on the Cuyahoga County Fairgrounds and inside George Finnie Stadium.
Track Event Highlights
- Sophomore All-OAC sprinter/hurdler Jameire Honzu (Warren/Harding) won the 100m hurdles with her time of 14.51 seconds.
- Senior Academic All-OAC distance runner Megan Hughes (Oregon/Clay) and freshman distance runner Jillian White (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) both earned personal records in the 800m race while finishing fourth and fifth, respectively. Hughes had a time of 2:18.44 (fourth-best in the OAC) and White had a time of 2:19.42 (seventh in the OAC).
Field Event Highlights
- Sophomore thrower Peyton Essenmacher (North Ridgeville/Elyria Catholic) earned third place in the discus throw with a career-best 39.34m (129' 1") throw. This is fourth in the OAC and 10th in the Great Lakes Region.
- Freshman All-Ohio thrower Alyssa Francis (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) earned first place with an impressive javelin throw of 38.28m (125' 7"). Her mark beat her previous PR by more than 11 feet, and she is the best in the OAC by seven feet. She is also second in the region.
- Junior thrower Lexi Smith (Tiffin/Columbian) beat her PR by more than seven feet in the javelin throw with a 37.68m (123' 7") second-place throw. She is now second in the OAC and third in the region.
- Sophomore thrower Delaney Friscone (Columbia Station/Columbia) won the shot put with her 12.61m (41' 4.25") put. This career-best mark is also fourth in the conference and 10th in the Great Lakes Region.
- Sophomore All-Ohio jumper/vaulter Peyton Putnam (Shelby) earned a fourth-place pole vault height of 3.67m (12' 0.5"). Her season-best mark is second in the OAC, third in the region, and 27th in the nation.
Relay Event Highlights
- Hughes, White, senior USTFCCCA All-Academic distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown), and sophomore All-Ohio sprinter/hurdler Kenae Moore (Cypress, Texas/Bridgeland) earned a season-best 4x400m time of 4:07.99. This time is fourth in the OAC and 16th in the region.
