Trout Leads Men’s Lacrosse in Pounding of Muskingum

NEW CONCORD, Ohio - The Baldwin Wallace University men's lacrosse team, led by Head Coach Tony Tatro, won their Ohio Athletic Conference road matchup over the Muskingum Fightin' Muskies by a score of 19-4 on North Turf Field.

BW (9-3, 4-0 OAC) was led by senior OAC Offensive Player of the Year Bennet Trout (Pickerington/North) who scored a season-best five goals and led the team with four assists for nine points. Junior All-OAC faceoff specialist Evan Vetter (Cranberry Township, Pa./Seneca Valley) went 18-20 on faceoffs and collected a team-best 11 ground balls. In goal for BW, sophomore Aidan Malone (Canal Winchester) had six saves with four allowed goals. Freshman goalie Jackson Viverito (Boulder, Colo./Fairview) made five saves and allowed no goals in just 10 minutes of action.

Muskingum (5-7, 2-2 OAC) was led by Evan Cosgrove who scored three goals.  

1st Period (BW 7-0) 
  • Junior All-OAC first-team attack/midfield Noah Dodgion (Hilliard/Davidson) scored the first two goals in the first four minutes of the game
  • BW won all eight faceoffs in the period
  • The Yellow Jackets won the ground ball battle 17-2
  • BW had 19 shots with 15 on goal  

2nd Period (BW 13-1) 
  • BW scored six goals  
  • The Yellow Jackets collected another 17 ground balls
  • The Brown and Gold went 6-6 on clears, making them 11-11 at the half.

3rd Period (BW 16-4) 
  • Muskingum outshot BW 8-7
  • Both teams had four shots on goal
  • Each goaltender made one save all period 

4th Period (BW 19-4) 
  • The Yellow Jackets went 9-9 on clears
  • BW turned the ball over eight times compared to Muskingum's six times
  • Viverito made five saves in the period

Up Next 
  • Baldwin Wallace will resume the suspended Mount Union game at home on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. on Tressel Field inside George Finnie Stadium. The Yellow Jackets will begin in the second period with a 7-0 lead in the second period.
