Moore Named Sprinter of the Year as Women’s Outdoor Track and Field Takes Third at OAC Outdoor Championships

NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team, led by Head Coach Joe Eby, placed third out of nine teams in the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships with 108 points. This event was held on the Johnson Family Track inside the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex at Muskingum University.
 
The top three finishers in each final event were recognized as Outdoor All-OAC student-athletes. Between Thursday and Friday, 10 Yellow Jackets earned All-OAC recognition and seven were named OAC Champions.
 
Sophomore All-Ohio sprinter/hurdler Kenae Moore (Cypress, Texas/Bridgeland) was also recognized as the OAC Women's Sprinter of the Year after her championship performance.
 
Track Event Highlights
  • Senior Academic All-OAC distance runner Megan Hughes (Oregon/Clay) landed in third place in the 1500m run to be named All-OAC with her personal record time of 4:50.13.
  • After taking first place in the 100m hurdles prelims with a 14.59 second time, sophomore All-Ohio sprinter/hurdler Jameire Honzu (Warren/Harding) became the OAC Champion in the finals with a 14.54 second finish.
  • Moore took first place to be named OAC Champion in the 100m dash with a 12.19 second finish. She proceeded to earn a second gold medal in the 200m dash with a 24.98 second time.
  • Freshman Indoor All-OAC distance runner Jillian White (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory) earned third-place to earn Outdoor All-OAC honors in the 800m run with a 2:20.33 finish.
 
Field Event Highlights
  • Sophomore All-Ohio thrower Janelle Rominger (Cambridge) finished in fourth place in the hammer throw with her 46.13m (151' 4") mark to earn five points for BW.
 
Relay Highlights
  • Moore, senior Academic All-OAC sprinter Jessica Klonowski (Parma/Holy Name), sophomore All-Ohio jumper/sprinter/vaulter Peyton Putnam (Shelby), and Honzu were named OAC Champions in the 4x100m relay with their season-best 48.67 second finish. This time is also 14th in the Great Lakes Region.
