WOOSTER, Ohio --  The Baldwin Wallace cross country team started their season at the Wooster Invitational on Tuesday evening, with the women racing in a 4k, while the men competed in a 6k. Fighting against schools like Wooster and Lorain County Community College, the women had four finishers in the top five, while the men had six finishers in the top seven.

Starting with the women, freshman Katherine Kaster finished first for her team, coming in first place with a time of 16:24.1, good for a sub 6:36 minute pace. Following close behind her was Jillian White (2nd) with a time of 16:31.5, and then Allie Carey (3rd) with a time of 16:33.1. Amy Burchett (5th) and Gabby Vennetti (6th) rounded out the top five for the Yellow Jackets with times of 17:15.3 and 17:24.9.

As for the men, junior Michael Dorris led the team with a first place overall finish in the race with a time of 21:12.4, good for a sub 5:42 minute pace. Following behind was Meka Balas (2nd) with a time of  21:20.9, and then Caden Buccier (3rd) with a time of 21:23.8. William Prato (4th) and Connor Kramer (5th) rounded out the top five for Baldwin Wallace with finishes of 21:25.4 and 21:32.6. 

The highlight of the day for the women's side was Kaster winning in her first collegiate college race and freshman Amelia Walls finishing in the top seven with a time of 17:38.1. Additionally, congratulations to Balas and Kramer who both finished top five in their first ever collegiate race. 

The Yellow Jackets look to continue building momentum as they return to competition at the Michigan State Pre-Regional on Friday, September 11th, in East Lansing, Mich.
