MEADVILLE, Pa. — The Baldwin Wallace men's and women's cross country teams both captured team titles at the Ben Mourer '07 Memorial Classic hosted by Allegheny College. The women had six finishers in top seven, while the men had seven finishers in the top 10.
For the women's 6k, freshman
Katherine Kaster led the way for the Yellow Jackets coming in first place overall with a time of 24:24.60. Trailing just behind was
Jillian White (2nd) who crossed the line in 24:39.71. Following just behind her was
Amy Burchett (3rd) posting a time of 24:55.0. Running behind her with a time of 25:30.10 was
Gabby Vennetti (5th). The Brown and Gold's top five was rounded out by
Allie Carey (6th) who crossed the finish line in 25:40.30.
For the men's 8k, junior
Michael Dorris led the way for the third consecutive week finishing in first place overall with a time of 27.26.90. Following close behind him was
Andrew Piehler (2nd) with a final time of 27:47.30. Trailing behind him was
Nick Swartz (3rd) who crossed the finish line in 27:57.60. Just behind him was
Anthony Spronz (4th) with a time of 27:57.90.
Connor Kramer (5th) posted a final time of 28:10.40 to round out the top five for the Yellow Jackets.
A standout performance on the women's side came from Kaster who won her second collegiate race. On the men's side, Spronz had a great race, getting a new personal best in the 8k.
The Brown and Gold return to action on Friday Oct. 2, at the OWU Invitational in Delaware, Ohio. The men's race is set for 5:45 p.m., followed by the women's race at 6:30 p.m.
