BEREA, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace cross country team competed at the Michigan State Pre-Regional in East Lansing, Mich. and the Commodore Invitational in Elyria, Ohio. The women competed in their first 6k of the season at Michigan State, while the men raced their first 8k of the season. At the Commodore Invitational, the women competed in the 5k, while the men competed in their first 8k.
Michigan State Pre-Regional
Starting with the women, sophomore
Jillian White finished first for her team, coming in 112th place with a time of 23:25.5. Following close behind her was
Katherine Kaster (130th) with a time of 23:43.5, and then
Allie Carey (156th) with a time of 24:13.9. The Brown and Gold rounded out the top five with
Amy Burchett (166th) and
Gabby Vennetti (178th) recording times of 24:28.3 and 24:41.5, respectively.
As for the men, they were led by junior
Michael Dorris, who finished 103rd with a time of 26:51.6. Just behind him was
Connor Kramer (149th) with a time of 27:32.7, followed by
Meka Balas (160th) with a time of 27:40.3. Trailing behind him was
Nate James (163rd) who crossed the finish line in 27:42.0.
Cooper Enyeart (182nd) posted a time of 28:01.7 to round out the top five for the Yellow Jackets.
The highlight of the day for the women's side was White leading the way this week for the Brown and Gold. On the men's side, Dorris led the team for a second consecutive week. Additionally, congratulations to the newcomer, Kramer, on finishing second for the team this week.
Commodore Invitational
The men were led by senior
Andrew Piehler who finished in 10th place with a time of 28:51.1. Close behind was
Griffin Boyer (13th) and
Anthony Spronz (14th) with times of 29:13.8 and 29:19.6, respectively.
Nick Swartz (18th) came in fourth for the Yellow Jackets finishing in 29:39.6.
Corbin Klein (19th) rounded out the top five for the Brown and Gold, crossing the finish line in 29:45.5.
Sophomore
Adison Wierzbicki finished in 22nd place with a time of 22:38.4.
A standout performance for the men came from Boyer who came in second for the team. Congratulations to freshman
Patrick Firstenberger on a great race and a sixth-place finish for the team.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action Saturday, September 19th, when they head to Meadville, Pa., to compete in the Ben Mourer '07 Memorial Classic.
