Men’s Cross Country Finishes in 4th Place in NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Baldwin Wallace University men's cross country team took fourth place out of 37 teams in the 8k at the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Regional Championship at E.P. "Tom" Sawyer Park. This was the team's highest placement in the regional championship in Head Coach Joe Eby's 11-year tenure with BW.

Junior Dillon Hach (Medina) was once again the top finisher for BW with his 11th place time of 25:23.6. This was one place higher and one second shy of his personal best 8k time at the Louisville Classic (on the same course) on October 4. There were three top-50 finishers and six top-100 finishers out of seven Yellow Jacket runners. Senior Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) set a new PR for the 8k with his 28th-place time of 25:44.5. His previous best was at the Louisville Classic, and he was three-and-a-half seconds faster today. Rounding out the top-50 was the 34th-place finisher, junior Gabe Ghering (Sunbury / Big Walnut), who ran a season-best 25:54.9 time in the 8k.

Top BW Finishers
•    Hach finished in 11th place with a time of 25:23.6 to be the first Yellow Jacket finisher.
•    Sikorski placed 28th with a 25:44.5 PR time in likely his final race in the brown and gold.
•    Ghering landed in 34th place in the 8k with his 25:54.9 season-best finish.

The Yellow Jackets will find out tomorrow whether the team or any of the top finishers qualify for the NCAA Division III Championship race on Saturday, November 22 in Spartanburg, S.C.
