WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University sophomore stroker
Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Swimmer of the Week for the first time in his career.
Murphy earns his first weekly honor after winning one individual race, placing fourth in another and being a member of two runner-up relay teams as BW wrapped up its winter break training trip to Florida with unscored sprints meet with Randolph-Macon (Va.) College last Thursday.
He won the won the 50-yard butterfly in a time of 24.97 and was fourth the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 23.46.
Murphy was the third leg of the 200-yard medley relay that finished second in a time of 1:48.88. He led off the 200-yard freestyle relay that placed second in a time of 1:36.44
This season,
Murphy has swum career-best times in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard breaststroke, 100-yard butterfly and 200-yard butterfly.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, January 10 when they host a non-conference dual meet against Bluffton University and an OAC meet against Heidelberg University in the BW Natatorium inside the Lou Higgins Center at 2 p.m.
