WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University track and field junior
Kitar Olsen (Whitefish, Mont.) was named the Ohio Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week following his performance at the Spartan Holiday Classic at Case Western Reserve University on Saturday. This is the first OAC weekly award of his career.
While this was only the first meet of the indoor season for the Yellow Jackets, the USTFCCCA All-Academic athlete proved he was in midseason form when he had a record-breaking weight throw. In the first men's event of the day (at approximately 11:00 a.m.),
Olsen earned first place, set a personal record weight throw, and came four inches shy of the school record.
Olsen's first throw of six attempts in this event went for 17.77m, which ended up being further than any of the other 20 throwers in the end. He broke his PR of 18.40m with his second throw of 18.77m. Instead of calling this Kitar-versus-Kitar battle won, he proceeded to push himself and eventually threw for a whopping 19.33m on his sixth attempt. This mark put him in first place in the OAC and is the second-best weight throw in NCAA Division III Track and Field so far this season.
Earlier this year,
Olsen represented BW at the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track and Field Championships when he competed in the hammer throw. He was one of four Yellow Jackets to compete on the national track and field stage in 2025.
