Fisher Earns Second Career MCVL Defensive Player of the Week Honor

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Baldwin Wallace University men's volleyball senior All-MCVL middle hitter Reed Fisher (Freedom, Pa./Ambridge Area) has been named the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League Defensive Player of the Week for the first time this season and for second time in his career.

Fisher earns his second career weekly accolade after leading the Brown and Gold over the University of Olivet (Mich.) and Adrian (Mich.) College this past weekend to help the Yellow Jackets open the Midwest Collegiate Volleyball League schedule 2-0 and to improve to an overall record of 11-6.

In BW's conference-opening sweep of Olivet, Fisher totaled a team-high five blocks, and added four kills, two aces, and one dig. He then posted a game-high seven block assists plus eight kills against Adrian to help the Yellow Jackets secure back-to-back conference sweeps.

This season, Fisher has appeared in 16 matches and 54 sets. He leads the team and is tied for second in the MCVL with 47 blocks including a team-high eight block solos for an average of 0.87 blocks per set. Fisher is also fourth on the team with 85 kills hitting a team-best .383, third on the team with 13 aces, and third on the team in total points with 125.5 while also tallying five digs and two assists. 

In his career, Fisher has appeared in 38 matches and 132 sets where he has recorded 95 blocks, 193 kills, 15 service aces, 12 digs, and three assists for 262 total points. He was an All-OAC second-team selection last season and earned his previous weekly honor on March 4, 2024.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, March 1 when they travel to Buffalo, New York for a tri-match hosted by Buffalo State (N.Y.) University. BW will take on the host Buffalo State at 1 p.m. and will then play Houghton (N.Y.) University at 3 p.m. in the BSU Sports Arena.
