Comack Highlights OAC Women's Lacrosse Honors, Six Players Named All-OAC

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse senior All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Lauren Comack (Cranberry Township, Pa. / Seneca Valley) has been selected as the OAC Defensive Player of the Year to lead six BW student-athletes on the All-OAC squad.

Comack, who earns her third straight conference accolade, was named this year's Defensive Player of the Year and landed on the first team after leading BW and the OAC with a career-high 30 caused turnovers. She was also third on the team with a career-high 39 ground balls. Comack appeared and started in all 17 regular season games for the Yellow Jackets.

Sophomore All-OAC midfielder Clare Alic (Carmel, Ind. / Guerin Catholic) earns her second All-OAC honor after landing on the first team for the second consecutive season. For the second year in a row, she scored 50 goals during the season. As a freshman last year, Alic became the third player in program history to reach 50 goals in a single season.

This season, Alic led the team and was sixth in the league with a career-high 56 goals. She also led the team and was tied for seventh in the conference with 70 points. Additonally, Alic was third on the team in assists with 14. She led the Brown and Gold with a career-best 93 shots on goal with an outstanding 73% shooting efficiency. Alic also led BW and was third in the league with a career-high 46 ground balls, and she was second on the team with a career-high 20 caused turnovers. Additionally, she led the team and was sixth in the league with 73 draw controls.

Earning second team honors this year are sophomore midfielder Annette Doren (Lakewood), junior All-OAC attack Carley House (Hilliard / Darby), senior All-OAC defender Carly Kern (Gibsonia, Pa./  Mars Area), and senior All-OAC midfielder Rennick Mellon (Akron / Archbishop Hoban). 

Doren earns her first All-OAC award after scoring a career-high 30 goals (second on the team) and providing a career-high 12 assists (fifth for BW). She was also fourth in team points with a career-high of 42. Doren was tied for fifth on the squad with a career-best 25 ground balls, and she was fourth for the Jackets with a career-high 15 caused turnovers. Doren placed fourth for BW with 42 shots on goal, marking an impressive 66% shooting efficiency. She was also third in team draw controls with a career-best of 37.

House receives her second conference award after appearing and starting in all 17 regular season games for the Brown and Gold. She led the team and was eighth in the conference with a career-high 22 assists and was fourth for BW with a career-best 26 goals scored. This season, House was second on the squad with a career-best 48 points, and she also picked up a career-high 25 ground balls (tied for fifth on the team) while causing a career-best 10 turnovers for the Yellow Jackets.

Kern earns her second All-OAC award after appearing and starting in 15 regular season games for the Brown and Gold. Kern placed fifth for the Yellow Jackets in caused turnovers (11) and picked up 13 ground balls. 

Mellon receives her second conference award after appearing in all 17 regular season games (starting in 14) for the Jackets. She was second in team draw controls with a career-high of 59 while totaling 19 goals and one assist. Defensively, Mellon was tied for fifth on the squad with a career-best of 25 ground balls and added a personal high of 10 caused turnovers.

BW finished the season with a 10-9 overall record and a 5-2 mark in the OAC after advancing to the conference tournament semifinals for the second year in a row.
