WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University men's soccer goalkeeper
Diego Teran has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in his career.
The honor comes after he started at net in both Yellow Jackets' games the week of October 19-25, 2026, playing all 90 minutes in each. He allowed only one goal for the entire week, which came at Muskingum on October 21, when BW won 2-1. He also made five saves and recorded his sixth shutout of the year in a 1-0 win at Otterbein. For the week, he made eight saves, allowed one goal, and saved eight out of nine (88%) of the shots that were at his target.
So far, this 2026 season, Teran has been the starting goalkeeper in every game, with a 9-4-4 record. He has been out there all 90 minutes in all but two games this year. He has allowed just 16 goals, has 0.99 goals against average, has 68 saves, an .810 save percentage, and six shutouts. His goals-against average of 0.99 is a whole goal and a quarter better than last season, when he had a 2.24 average in 2025.
In his career in a BW uniform, he has been the goalkeeper for 40 games, tallying 3,342 minutes at net, 50 goals allowed, a 1.35 goals-against average, 153 saves, a .754 save percentage, 17 wins, 15 losses, 5 ties, and 6 shutouts. He is set to graduate and finish his career at BW come season's end.
The Yellow Jackets are back on the pitch Wednesday evening, where they will host Heidelberg University and honor the life and legacy of 2024 graduate and program alumni, Nick Young. Kickoff is at 7 p.m.
