AKRON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team sits in fourth place after the first day of the 2026 Ohio Athletic Championships hosted by the University of Mount Union inside the Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of NCAA Division I University of Akron.
BW is fourth of five teams with 110 points. The University of Mount Union leads with 293 points.
Individuals
- Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) was 11th in the 500-yard freestyle in a time of 5:03.49
- Sophomore freestyler Mason Carnahan (Willard) was 12th in the 500-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 5:05.73
- Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) was 12th in the 200-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 2:01.83
- junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was 14th in the 500-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 5:12.16
- Freshman stroker Aidan Bacon (Upper Sandusky) was 15th in the 200-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 2:12.83
- Freshman freestyler Xavier Hatfield (North Royalton) was 17th in the 50-yard freestyle in a career-best time of 24.48
- Junior freestyler Alex Cooper (Columbus/Thomas Worthington) was 20th in the 50-yard freestyle in a time of 33.01
Relays
- The 400-yard medley team of senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro), Carnahan, Murphy and Meyer took fourth in a time of 3:43.82
- The 800-yard freestyle unit of sophomore Carnahan, Hatfield, junior stroker Gruber III and Meyer took fourth in a time of 7:30.53
- The 200-yard freestyle squad of Murphy, Meyer, Hatfield and Gruber took fifth in a time of 1:33.50
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday, February 20 when compete in the second day of the OAC Championships. Preliminary action begins at 10 am with finals slated to begin at 6:00 p.m.
