AKRON, Ohio – Freshman diver
Malcolm Thompson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) earned his first career Ohio Athletic Conference Championships title, capturing the 1-meter crown to lead the Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team on day two of competition.
BW currently sits in fourth place at the 2026 OAC Championships, hosted by the University of Mount Union inside Ocasek Natatorium on the campus of NCAA Division I University of Akron.
The Yellow Jackets are fourth of five teams with 185 points. The University of Mount Union leads with 598 points.
Individuals
- Junior stroker Michael Gruber III (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was 13th in the 400-yard individual medley in a career-best time of 4:44.31
- Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) was ninth in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 52.85
- Senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) was ninth in the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best time of 56.47
- Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) was 10th in the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 1:51.24
Diving
- Thompson won his first title and earned his first career All-OAC honor as he won the 1-meter with a career-best total of 428.15 points
Relays
- The 200-yard medley squad of Szuch, sophomore freestyler Mason Carnahan (Willard), Murphy and Gruber III took fourth in a time of 1:49.41
BW is back in action on Saturday, February 21 when it closes out the OAC Championships. Preliminary action begins at 10 am with finals slated to begin at 5:30 p.m.
