Jameire Honzu (Warren/Harding) and freshman jumper
Macy Schubach (New Reigel) have been selected as the OAC Indoor Track and Field Runner and Field Athlete of the Week.
Honzu, who garners her second career weekly accolade, brings home the honor after placing second in the 60-meter hurdles in a career-best time of 8.88 at the Silverston Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I University of Michigan last Friday. She was the lone Division III hurdler in the field of 10 runners.
Honzu leads the OAC in the 60-meter hurdles and ranks third in the Great Lakes Region and is 22nd in Division III.
For her career,
Honzu is the defending OAC Champion in the 60-meter hurdles and is the Harrison Dillard Track record holder in the 55-meter hurdles. She is an U.S. Track and Field and Cross County Coaches Association All-Great Lakes Region honoree in the 60-meter hurdles.
Off the track,
Honzu is an U.S. Track & Field and Cross County Coaches Association All-Academic Athlete.
Schubach secures her first career weekly honor after finishing second in the high jump with a career-best mark of five feet and three inches and seventh in the long jump with a career-best leap of 14' 9.25" at the Ed Finnegan Greater Cleveland Colleges Invitational hosted by Case Western Reserve University last Friday. She is fourth in the OAC in the high jump.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Friday and Saturday, February 27 and 28 when they travel to Tiffin to compete in the OAC Indoor Championships hosted by Heidelberg University inside Frann's Fieldhouse.
