Honzu Claims OAC Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for Third Time in Career

WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's track and field sophomore All-Ohio Athletic Conference and USTFCCCA All-Academic sprinter/hurdler Jameire Honzu (Warren/Harding) has been named the OAC Women's Outdoor Track Athlete of the Week for the first time this outdoor season and the third time in her career.
 
Honzu ran a season-best 100m hurdles time at the Marty Goldberg Gator Invite at Allegheny (Pa.) College on Friday. The sophomore sprinter/hurdler earned first place in the prelims with her season-best time of 14.36 seconds. This time is the best in the Ohio Athletic Conference, third best in the Great Lakes Region, and is tied for No. 16 nationally in Division III. She proceeded to win the finals with her first-place finish of 14.53 seconds.
 
Honzu earned her first weekly accolade of 2026 on February 23 when she set a career-best 60m hurdles (indoor) time of 8.88 seconds at the Silverston Invitational hosted by NCAA Division I University of Michigan. Her time was the best in the OAC, third in the region, and 22nd in the nation. Since then, Honzu earned gold in the 60m hurdles at the OAC Indoor Championships while being named All-OAC. She was one of six Yellow Jackets to earn this honor on the women's team. The United States Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Honzu All-Great Lakes Region for the 2025-26 indoor season too.
 
Off the track, Honzu is a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete and a psychology major.
