NEW CONCORD, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University women's outdoor track and field team, led by Head Coach
Joe Eby, completed the first day of the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Championships in third place out of nine teams with 45 points. This event was held on the Johnson Family Track inside the Bullock Health and Wellness Complex at Muskingum University.
The top three finishers in each final event were recognized as Outdoor All-OAC student-athletes. Seven Yellow Jackets earned All-OAC recognition and one was named OAC Champion.
Track Event Highlights
- Sophomore OAC Women's Track Athlete of the Week Jameire Honzu (Warren/Harding) earned first place in the 100m hurdles prelims with her time of 14.59 seconds to qualify for the finals.
- Sophomore All-Ohio sprinter/hurdler Kenae Moore (Cypress, Texas/Bridgeland) placed second in the 100m dash prelims with her time of 12.33 seconds to qualify for the finals.
- Moore also took first in the 200m dash prelims with a 25.09 second finish and will compete in the finals tomorrow.
Field Event Highlights
- Freshman All-Ohio thrower Alyssa Francis (McKees Rocks, Pa./Montour) was named OAC Champion in the javelin throw in her debut outdoor season with a personal record 39.18m (128' 6") throw.
- Junior multi-sport athlete Lexi Smith (Tiffin/Columbian) finished runner-up and earned All-OAC honors in the javelin throw with her 37.82m (124' 1") career-best mark.
- Sophomore All-Ohio jumper/vaulter Peyton Putnam (Shelby) earned All-OAC honors in the pole vault with her third-place finish of 3.66m (12').
Relay Highlights
- Senior Academic All-OAC distance runner Megan Hughes (Oregon/Clay), freshman All-OAC distance runner Jillian White (Hermitage, Pa./Hickory), senior USTFCCCA All-Academic distance runner Katie Plecko (Rootstown), and sophomore distance runner Lauren Jensch (Chippewa Lake/Cloverleaf) were all named All-OAC in the 4x800m relay with a second-place finish of 9:33.28.
