Box Score ALLIANCE, Ohio – The third-seeded Baldwin Wallace University softball team closed out the season as it fell to the sixth-seeded Capital University in an Ohio Athletic Conference Tournament quarterfinal game hosted by No. 10 nationally ranked and top-seeded University of Mount Union by a final score of 10-2 on the 23rd Street Field.
Capital (19-17) advances to the semifinals on Friday, May 8 and will take on Moun Union at 11 a.m. B W (20-13) ends its season.
The Yellow Jackets scored two runs on five hits as they plated one run in the second inning and one in the sixth off the blast by junior designated player
Lexie Vaillant (Bowling Green/Perrysburg). The Comets scored 10 runs on 11 hits as they pushed two runs across the plate in the fourth inning and eight in the sixth.
At the Plate:
- Vaillant went 2-for-3 with a homerun, run scored and run batted-in (RBI)
- Three other BW hitters had a base knock
In the Circle:
- Senior right hander Katie Barnhart (North Ridgeville) took the loss as she allowed four runs (two earned) on six hits with three strikeouts and three walks in 5.1 innings pitched
- Sophomore right Breckyn Daniel (Berea/Berea-Midpark) did not record an out and allowed six runs with three walks
- Freshman right hander Bailey Licht (Eastlake/North) did not allow a run with one hit with a walk in two-thirds of an inning
