BEREA, Ohio -- The Baldwin Wallace University Athletic Communications Department has announced the selection of Nate Schweinberg, Cody Duckworth, and Rylee Gorrell as the department's first Lead Student Assistants for the 2026-27 academic year. Schweinberg and Duckworth will serve as Lead Student Assistants, while Gorrell has been named the Lead Student Assistant for Creative Content.
"I'm very excited to announce Nate, Cody and Rylee as our first group of Lead Student Assistants," said Chris Corso, Director of Athletic Communications. "Throughout my first month here, their names have continued to come up in conversation as just a few of the individuals whose contributions have played an important role in the success of the BW Athletic Communications department. Throughout their time at BW, Nate, Cody and Rylee have proven themselves as leaders among their peers, and I am very excited to watch them step into these roles and continue their growth."
"Creating these positions was something I felt would not only provide value to the BW Athletic Communications department, but also create meaningful leadership opportunities for our students. With the creation of the Lead Student Assistant positions, the goal is to not only increase our ability to highlight the incredible things our student-athletes, coaches and teams do at the highest level, but also provide BW students with opportunities to gain valuable leadership experience and help prepare them for their careers after Baldwin Wallace. The vision is also to give younger students a clear path to gain more experience, develop their skills and work toward leadership opportunities of their own."
As Lead Student Assistants, the trio will take on increased responsibilities within the department, including additional leadership and game day operations duties. The positions will provide experienced student assistants with opportunities to take greater ownership of departmental projects and initiatives while serving as mentors and resources for younger members of the student staff. The new structure will also allow the department's graduate assistants to further develop their own leadership and supervisory skills by working with and helping guide the Lead Student Assistants.
Nate Schweinberg '27
Schweinberg enters his fourth year with the Baldwin Wallace Athletic Communications department and brings extensive experience in sports and event operations. In addition to his work with Yellow Jacket Athletics, he has gained experience with several major professional and collegiate sporting events, including the NHL Draft, Daytona 500, Super Bowl LVIII, NCAA Women's Final Four and FedEx St. Jude Championship, while also working as a Ticket Office Representative with the Cleveland Browns. A Sport Management major, Schweinberg is also a member of the Yellow Jacket men's cross country and track and field programs and serves as the President of both the Sport Management Club and Student Ambassadors.
Cody Duckworth '27
Duckworth enters his second year with the Baldwin Wallace Athletic Communications department and brings experience in athletic communications, coaching and sports management to the Lead Student Assistant role. In addition to taking statistics and writing game and match recaps for Yellow Jacket Athletics, he currently serves as a soccer coach at Jackson High School and previously owned and operated a youth soccer skills clinic. A Sport Management major, Duckworth is also an assistant captain of the Baldwin Wallace men's soccer team and a board member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC), while also being involved with the Sport Management Club and Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
Rylee Gorrell '27
Gorrell enters her second year with the Baldwin Wallace Athletic Communications department and brings experience in photography, videography, social media and digital content creation. She recently completed an internship as a Social Media Marketing & Growth Associate with Eventio, where she gained experience in content creation, marketing campaigns, community engagement and digital strategy. A Media Production major, Gorrell has also created content for the Yellow Jacket women's track and field program, including photography, social media content and a short-form documentary.
