WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer freshman goalkeeper Mackenzie Butcher has been named Ohio Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
 
The honor comes after she started at net in two of the three contests the Yellow Jackets competed in, highlighted by a 15-save performance in a win on Sunday, September 13 over Denison. In this respective game, the Yellow Jackets got the edge by a final score of 1-0 despite Denison crushing the shots taken total, 22-6. 
 
Outside of the Denison game, Butcher started and protected the net in all 90 minutes against the 11th nationally-ranked Case Western Reserve University Spartans, where she had 11 saves while allowing two goals. For the week, Butcher made 26 saves and allowed just two total goals, averaging 13 each game.
 
For the season, the Orlando native has appeared in four games, allowing three goals, holding a 2-2 record, making 37 total saves, shutting out two teams and holding a 0.75 GAA. Both of the games Butcher has won this season have come via the shutout.
 
BW will be back on the pitch Sunday, September 20 when they travel to Carnegie Mellon University for a road clash with the Tartans. Kickoff is scheduled for 1 p.m.
