CANTON, Ohio – The Baldwin Wallace University men's swimming and diving team finished in 11th place at the three-day NCAA Division II Malone University Invitational inside the CT Branin Natatorium.
BW was 11th of 15 teams with 266 points. NCAA Division II Gannon (Pa.) University was the champion with 1,929.5 points.
Individuals
- Freshman diver Malcolm Thompson (Pittsburgh, Pa./Mount Lebanon) won the 3-meter with 450.75 points and was second in the 1-meter with 399.40 points
- Senior stroker Nolan Szuch (Springboro) finished ninth in the 200-yard backstroke in a time of 2:00.23 and 13th in the 100-yard backstroke in a season-best time of 57.20
- Sophomore stroker Danny Murphy (Herndon, Va./South Lakes) finished 11th in the 200-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 2:03.21 and was 15th in the 100-yard butterfly in a career-best time of 55.07 and took 17th in the 200-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 2:05.83
- Junior stroker Michael Gruber (Sagamore Hills/Nordonia) was 16th in the 400-yard individual medley in a season-best time of 4:50.73 and 22nd in the 1650-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 18:48.23
- Sophomore stroker Mason Carnahan (Willard) was 19th in the 200-yard breaststroke in a season-best time of 2:34.68
- Senior Academic All-OAC freestyler Kevin Meyer (Mentor) was 21st in the 200-yard freestyle in a season-best time of 1:52.60
Relays
- The 200-yard medley team of Szuch, Carnahan, Murphy and Gruber finished 13th in a time of 1:43.50
- The 800-yard freestyle squad of Meyer, freshman freestyler Xavier Hatfield (North Royalton), Gruber and Carnahan finished 13th in a time of 7:47.24
- The 400-yard freestyle quad of Meyer, Hatfield, Gruber and Murphy was 14th in a time of 3:27.77
- The 400-yard medley unit of Szuch, Carnahan, Murphy and Meyer was 14th in a time of 3:51.84
The Yellow Jackets are now idle until Thursday, December 18 when they take on Randolph-Macon (Va.) University in a non-conference dual meet at the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex in Sarasota, Florida.
