GREENWOOD, Ind. – Six Baldwin Wallace University women's soccer student-athletes have been selected to the 2025 College Sports Communicators (CSC) NCAA Division III Academic All-District Team.
In order to qualify for the Academic All-District feat, a student must be a sophomore academically and athletically, must have a 3.50 grade-point average or higher, and must have competed in 90 percent of the team's games.
Senior Academic All-OAC midfielder Sydni Mudge (Birch Run, Mich.) has received this distinctive award for the third time in her career, while Senior Academic All-OAC defender Karli Barringer (Blacklick/Bishop Hartley), junior midfielder Mia Fourtounis (Akron/Revere), and junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference defender Ella James (Loveland) have earned the award for the second time. Junior midfielder Sophie Kirsten (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and junior forward Kalyn Rich (Lynchburg/Lynchburg-Clay) are first-time recipients of the award. The six student-athletes now advance to the CSC Academic All-America® ballot, which will be announced on December 17.
Barringer earns her second Academic All-District honor after playing in 18 games, all of which were starts. She took three shots throughout the season. Academically, Barringer had a 3.68 GPA as a nursing major.
Fourtounis collects her second Academic All-District accolade after playing and starting all 19 games. Fourtonis took 24 shots throughout the season. Academically, she possesses a 3.96 GPA as an engineering major.
James received her second Academic All-District accolade after garnering All-OAC honors for the third consecutive year, following her continued success as a freshman and sophomore. This year, she had one goal and one assist to contribute to the offensive spectrum. James appeared and started in all 19 games for the Brown and Gold. Academically, she has a 3.89 GPA as a chemistry major.
Kirsten garners her first Academic All-District award after playing in 19 games and starting each one. Throughout the season, she scored two goals and tallied one assist, including a goal in the final game of the regular season, which saw the Yellow Jackets take down Muskingum 7-0. In the classroom, Kirsten has an astounding GPA of 4.0 as an Accounting and Finance major.
Mudge earns her third CSC Academic All-District selection after playing in 19 games for the Brown and Gold, starting six of them. She scored three goals throughout the season, including the one that tied the game in the OAC Tournament, which put the score at 2-1 in favor of Wilmington at the time. Additionally, Mudge had a 3.89 GPA as a Biology major. She is an Academic All-OAC honoree and a member of the Dean's List.
Rich now has her first Academic All-District Selection after playing in 19 games and making 18 starts. By far the best player on the field for BW this year, she had a team-leading five goals, which was top 10 in the OAC, and two assists for 12 points. She was ahead of second place by a double margin in points.
Rich's five goals all came in different games, and her two assists both came in the 7-0 win against Muskingum.
Rich also led the team in shots taken and shots on goal. Academically, she maintains a 3.55 GPA as a pre-allied health/pre-physical therapy major.
