Hope Murphy (Mogadore) has been named as a College Sports Communicators (CSC) Track and Field and Cross Country Academic All-Americans for a remarkable third time.
Murphy becomes just the third student-athlete in BW history to earn three Academic All-America honors, joining Athletics Alumni Hall of Famer Peggy Fortune as the only women's cross country and track and field athletes to receive this prestigious recognition.
In addition, she becomes the 135th Yellow Jacket to earn Academic All-American honors, the 18th from the women's cross country and track and field program, and the fourth BW student-athlete to be recognized during the 2024–25 academic year.
Murphy, who carried a 3.93 grade point average in strategic marketing, was named to the third team. She was a second team honoree in 2023 and 2024.
This season,
Murphy closed out her illustrious career as she earned All-American honors in the outdoor 800-meter run and was the Ohio Athletic Conference Outdoor Champion in the 1,500-meter run.
Murphy was ranked first third in the Great Lakes Region in 800-meter run and third in the 1,500-meter run outdoors and was second in the region in the indoor 800-meter.
For her career,
Murphy was an 18-time All-OAC honoree (eight outdoor, seven indoor, three cross), 14-time OAC Champion (seven outdoor, five indoor and two cross country, 11-time U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) All-Great Lakes Region honoree (seven indoors and four outdoors), six-time OAC Distance Runner of the Year Award winner (three each indoor and outdoor), five-time All-American (three outdoor and two indoor), the 2023 and 2021 OAC Cross Country Runner of the Year Award recipient. She is the school's record holder in outdoor 10,000-meter run, the indoor and outdoor 800-meter run, the indoor 1-mile run, and the indoor 500-meter run and is a member of the indoor 4x400-meter and 4x400-meter relays.
Off the track and the course, she was a six-time Academic All-OAC honoree (three each in cross country and track and field), two-time CSC Academic All-American, two-time USTFCCCA All-Academic selection, 2024 BW Clyde Lamb and Outstanding Senior Athlete Awards winner, Dean's List student, Jacket Scholar and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma and Dayton C. Miller honoraries.
