WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference distance runner
Sam Sikorski (Columbia Station / Columbia) has been named the OAC Men's Track Athlete of the Week for the second time in his career, first time in indoor track.
Sikorski set the indoor 800m run school record on Saturday with his time of 1:52.76, which is .94 seconds faster than the previous record. Although he finished the event in third place at the Ashland Jud Logan Light Giver Open, he has the best time in the OAC with a 1.45-second lead over the next best time.
Sikorski's 4x400m relay team finished with a 12th-place time of 3:24.95, which is less than two seconds shy of the school record that was set in 2016.
Sikorski's senior season has been highlighted by multiple first-place finishes. He earned two first-place finishes at the Dr. Taraschke Team Challenge inside Ursprung Gymnasium on Friday, January 30.
Sikorski was the winner of the one-mile race with a time of 4:22.85. He helped his 4x400m relay team to a victory with a time of 3:32.71. BW finished in first place at this meet with five teams competing.
Off the track,
Sikorski is a USTFCCCA All-Academic Athlete, a CSC Academic All-District honoree, and an Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference student-athlete. He is a business of healthcare major, a Jacket Scholar, and a member of the Chi Alpha Sigma Honor Society.
