WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University junior Academic All-Ohio Athletic Conference right-side hitter
Lexi Smith (Tiffin / Columbian) has been named the OAC Women's Volleyball Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her career.
Smith earned her first weekly accolade after guiding BW to a 4-1 record. She led or tied for the team and match lead in kills in all five contests, finishing the week with an impressive 71 total kills.
Smith opened the week with a match-high 14 kills in a three-set victory over The College of Wooster on Tuesday. She then kicked off the Sommer Spiketacular in dominant fashion, recording 13 kills with a .600 hitting percentage in a straight-set sweep of The University of Olivet (Mich.) on Friday. Later that evening,
Smith added 11 kills—again leading all players and tying for the team best—in a three-set win over Adrian (Mich.) College. On Saturday, she delivered a career-high 20 kills, tying for the match lead in a hard-fought five-set battle against Hanover (Ind.) College.
Smith capped off her standout week with 13 kills in another straight-set sweep, this time against host Bluffton University.
