Szalay Earns First Career OAC Women's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week Honor

WESTERVILLE, Ohio - Baldwin Wallace University women's lacrosse sophomore midfielder Ella Szalay (Struthers/Cardinal Mooney) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the first time in her BW career.

Szalay scored six goals against Lewis & Clark (Ore.) on Saturday to tie her career-best mark in the 15-10 victory. Her six goals came on a season-high seven shots on goal for a .875 shot-on-goal percentage. The sophomore midfielder also had three draw controls and two ground balls. She scored two of the Yellow Jackets' seven unanswered goals late in the second half to secure the victory. In the 10-6 win over Fredonia (N.Y.), she scored one goal and caused one turnover.

This season, Szalay is third on the team in goals scored with 11, fourth on the team with eight ground balls, and has taken the second-most shots with 30. She has played in all seven games this season. Off the field, Szalay is pursuing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing.
