WESTERVILLE, Ohio – Baldwin Wallace University senior softball first baseman/designate player
Avery Curran (Kitchener, Ontario, CANADA/Resurrection Catholic) has been named the Ohio Athletic Conference Hitter of the Week for the first time in her career.
Curran brings home her first career weekly honor after a blistering week at the plate as she hit .667 (8-of-12) with three homeruns, six runs scored, eight runs batted-in and two walks as BW split a pair of OAC doubleheaders with No. 18 nationally ranked the University of Mount Union and No. 25 nationally ranked Muskingum University.
Against Mount Union, she hit an impressive .800 (5-of-4) with three homers, four runs scored, seven RBIs and two walks. Against Muskingum.
Curran batted .571 (4-for-7) with two runs scored and an RBI.
This season, she is hitting .500 (21-of-42) with an OAC leading six homeruns, three doubles, 18 runs scored, 22 RBIs and nine walks in 17 games played.
Curran also has 48 putouts and four assists for a .945 fielding percentage.
In her career,
Curran has appeared in 23 games with 16 starts. She is hitting .442 (23-of-52) with six homers, three doubles, 18 run scored, 23 RBIs, 10 walks and one stolen base.
Curran has a .957 career fielding percentage with 62 putouts and five assists.
The Yellow Jackets are back in action on Saturday, April 18 when they travel to Marietta for an OAC doubleheader against Marietta College on Marietta Field at 1 p.m.
